| Introduction
Mh2d usually takes place on the third weekend of September, however, the UCI World Road Championships Limburg 2012 is scheduled for 15-23 September. For this reason, this year’s Mh2d cycling event will take place on the second weekend of September.
Mh2d is an annual two-day cycling event. We start and finish at Libeek, St. Geertruid, in the province of Limburg (NL). The routes follow the Dutch Tour Cycling Union (NTFU) standards for outdoor cycling and off-road cycling. Mh2d is organised by the WTC St. Geertruid Vooruit cycling club, with the support of local associations and over 400 volunteers.
Every year, thousands of cycling and MTB lovers mark this 2-day cycling event in the marl hills of Southern Limburg (Mergelheuvelland) on their calendars. Many come with their families or fellow club members and extend their stay in Limburg. Mh2d offers you a fun and friendly atmosphere together with sports challenges in the South of Limburg and the Belgian border region. See the photos below to get a taste of the event.
To organise Mh2d, we have to consult with municipalities and provincial governments in the Netherlands and Belgium – we need their permission to host the event, and to cycle through the marl hills (heuvelland) with a large number of people. However, to obtain formal consent from the municipalities, we have to agree on a number of conditions. Both the Mh2d organisation and the government entities in question expect these conditions to be met; otherwise we may not get their consent to host Mh2d in the future. The Mh2d organisation asks all participants to comply with road traffic laws, follow directions from the organisation and to adhere to the general code of conduct, for instance, by throwing rubbish in the bins instead of on the road.
